It appears that, after several years of declining participation, the "Kindest Place on the Internet" has met it's demise. DHFFDH!

Found out today that the MIA Deadhooker known as “Ptchfork” has paid the bill to renew the site. Kind of odd since he’s been inactive for so long. But, Deadhookers(and Deadheads)just be’s that way sometimes. This post was modified by user unknown on 2019-08-05 20:44:20

For one brief shining moment, Forumites almost up and abandoned this ship for that one if I recall correctly...hmm, not sure "shining" is the right modifier there, but...

I suppose all these sorts of things fade away eventually, eh? Like old soldiers and my hair line. For those that want a brief return to LMA vs Hook here are a few old posts about "us and them": https://archive.org/post/145314/deadhook-vs-lma-non-gd https://archive.org/post/409871/what-is-happening-at-deadhook This post was modified by William Tell on 2019-08-06 02:18:35

I remember it well. And, for the most part, when "The Forumites" migrated back to where they came from, you folks were missed.

It's too bad DB wasn't able to stick around here longer. You can only stand the odor of old sweat socks and stale reviews for so long.

Yeah, this place was a bit more "fun" back in the day. Not to say it's not good now, but the number and variety of participants back then really made it "the place to be". Unfettered by societal niceties, not held down by political correctness and more than happy to go days, even weeks, without mentioning the Dead (which did piss off some folks), helped make this place much more of a destination.

There were many excellent people who came here regularly and, despite the examples posted now, did actually come to the party with some excellent Dead-related thoughts and recommendations. Almost all of those have passed by the wayside, apparently finding better uses of their time (or the wife changed the passwords) and actually deciding to join society. Sad. I'm still not sure about the whole "joining society" thing.

Every time I look up, society still, by and large, sucks. I'll just cram my head back under the sand (again, calling out to Rob) and crank tunes.

So the GD are enormously popular post-death. Sort of like Elvis. Where do all the people go to chat? Should we be advertising? :)
